How to Trick Your Treat

October kicks off the fall season with cool weather, giant pumpkins, holiday decor and everyone’s favorite, Halloween candy. We buy the big mixed bags for all the children and reminisce about our favorite treat. That’s when it begins. We sneak one Baby Ruth, then two, then three until the night of the 31st and every red, white and blue wrapper has disappeared from the jumbo pack.

This year give yourself a delicious chocolate treat that will kill that candy craving and leave you entirely guilt free!

Protein Packed Chocolate

1 cup organic coconut oil
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
¼ cup Terra Origin Chocolate Whey Protein OR ¼ cup Terra Origin Chocolate Plant Protein
¼ teaspoon fine grain sea salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
⅓ cup honey, maple syrup or agave

Combine all the above ingredients in a non-stick pan and heat on low, slowly mixing with a metal or non-stick whisk. When everything is completely blended and a smooth liquid consistency has been reached, you are ready to pour.

Here is the fun part! You can use creative silicone molds if you have them or silicone baking cups. Or you can line a casserole dish with wax paper and pour it into a sheet no more than a quarter inch thick for ease of breaking and eating.

Once you’ve determined where you’ll be pouring your chocolate to set, you can now add any additions that sound good to you! There are very few wrong answers when covered in chocolate. Nuts, seeds, dried fruits, shredded coconut, cacao nibs, peppermint oil, orange zest, chili pepper, cinnamon, sea salt, the list is endless.

Place whatever extras you want into your dish or molds and then pour the chocolate on top. If you chose an edible oil or spice, blend it into the portion of chocolate you want to flavor.

You can also enjoy this chocolate as is, without any fillings.

Once it has all been poured, place your molds or dish in the freezer, not the refrigerator. It takes about 20-30 minutes to set depending on how thick the chocolate was poured. Carefully remove the chocolate from the molds or break it up if poured onto wax paper and store in a ziplock bag in your freezer.

This is one delicious treat that will match your cravings this Halloween while still filling your body with nutritious goodness!
