Q&A With Kerri Axelrod

1. What do you do and why do you do it?

I am a leading expert in a holistic approach to mental health, specializing in the connection between diet, lifestyle, mood and productivity. In my work as a certified holistic health coach and nutrition consultant, I utilize nutritional science, cutting-edge scientifically proven research as well as the integrative modalities of Ayurveda, yoga and meditation.

2. What is the focus of or reason behind your blog/Instagram?

My blog and social media platforms focus on the powerful connection between nutrition, lifestyle and mental health. I am the creator of BRAIN FOODS, which is a  monthly online educational tool for integrative resources on mental well-being. Each month on my website, KerriAxelrod.com, I focus on educational topics aimed to help my readers boost their mood, combat fatigue and insomnia, reduce their stress, and improve their memory and concentration.
So far, BRAIN FOODS has covered how certain nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.  You can read more here: https://kerriaxelrod.com/category/brain-food/

3. What are your favorite Terra Origin products and why?
My favorite Terra Origin products are the Sleep supplement and the Greens Superfood. Running a business and being a full-time student again (did I mention I'm also studying to be a Registered Dietitian?) is a lot. I won’t sugar coat it. Sometimes I need an extra boost in both the sleep department and making sure that I get in my greens. I love how the sleep supplement also incorporates Ayurvedic herbs as Ayurveda is something I’ve studied and share with my clients.

4. Have you overcome any major health, fitness or food challenges that have altered your lifestyle?
Yes, I’ve unfortunately dealt with a number of health challenges, which I share more about on my website ( https://kerriaxelrod.com/about/). For most of my life I struggled with my own mental health, with long bouts of crippling anxiety and depression. Staying mentally well is something I commit to everyday.  What started as a personal journey to get well, has now turned into a career. I now get to share my over 8 years of training in various modalities with my clients and readers.

5. What's some advice you constantly share with your followers?

The number one thing I hope my readers take away from my blog is that they have the power to transform their own lives, no matter their starting place. There is a lot of support out there, and I encourage everyone to get support, but ultimately the power to transform  lies in our own hands. Don’t give that power away.

6. What healthy habits have changed your life?
Meditation and Kundalini Yoga are the two practices that have had the most profound impact on my overall well-being. When I am not consistent with those practices, I immediately feel the negative effects on my energy and anxiety levels.

7. If you could only do one thing to change how people approach wellness, what would it be?
Wellness doesn’t have to be expensive. There’s so much excess involved in wellness. You don’t need every product on the market to be well. Choose a few products and supplements for good companies that work for you, and focus on those along with a sustainable routine. It’s better to choose a lifestyle that you can stay consistent with and avoid extremes.

8. Do you have a favorite healthy recipe you could share with us?
No Bake Turmeric Bars using the Terra Origin Organic Turmeric Blend -Chai:

9. Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
Gratitude changes a lot.  If you don’t know where to start, start with writing down three things you are grateful for every single day. Gratitude has the power to change your brain chemistry. Get into the habit of being grateful and then notice what other shifts you can make.
