How to Care for Mom This Mother's Day
Mothers have the most demanding job on the planet. No vacation, no days off, no sick days, no overtime or holiday pay, and the hours tend to be 24/7! Especially with this past year, the strain on mothers has reached the brink. Dealing with work from home, school from home, and everyone always home, moms have had to bear the brunt.
While motherhood is an incredibly rewarding experience, the pressure of always putting everyone's needs before your own can take its toll on your health. Maintaining your health, your energy and your sanity, is oftentimes challenging. But if you’re not healthy, your family can fall apart! And you deserve to care for yourself and put yourself first sometimes. Think of it like the oxygen mask on the airplane. You need to address your own breathing before you can help anyone else.
So in honor of all the amazing, do everything moms out there, we’ve got some things you can do to put your health first, for once!
1. Eat Your Veggies
You probably say this to your kids all the time, but how often are you taking your own advice? Vegetables and greens are chock full of nutrients to keep your brain sharp and fuel your body the right way, ensuring you don’t have those energy ebbs and flows and grab sugary treats in the afternoon. Terra Origin Healthy Reds Superfoods and Healthy Greens Superfoods contain over 35 natural, energy-boosting ingredients including fruits, vegetables, herbs & antioxidants and come in delicious flavors like coffee, mint, tropical with organic coconut water and kiwi-strawberry. Throw them in a smoothie for a great healthy pick-me-up and get your fill of fruits and veggies while you feel energized and ready to tackle the day.
2. Create A System
Just like children crave structure and routine, most adults do better when we have a clear picture of our day as well. And while virtual school and virtual work might throw a wrench in your normal schedule, it’s still possible to create an outline of everyone’s day to keep you on task. A family whiteboard is a great way to jot down everyone’s chores and to-dos, or try a shared digital calendar. Delineating rooms or time when work gets done can also help set boundaries. And to help keep your mind sharp with all that you need to remember, Terra Origin Healthy Brain Supplement contains brain-healthy nutrients that have been known to improve memory and motor function such as CDP-Choline and Bacopa herb. Because moms need all the help they can get keeping everyone’s schedules straight!
3. Drink Up
We mean water! Not that the occasional adult beverage can’t help as well, but as you run around with sippy cups and your kid’s water bottles, you may forget to give your own body the hydration it needs to stay energized. Plus, water helps keep skin clear and our systems, flushed, so getting in your 8 cups a day or more is about beauty inside and out. A quick natural tip: mix a little honey, raw sea salt and magnesium powder into your water to give it a dose of minerals that will rejuvenate your body and quench that deep thirst! And if you want to double down on that inner beauty, Terra Origin Beauty Capsules contain biotin and collagen for a radiant, head to toe shine from the inside-out and Terra Origin Inner Beauty Detox and Probiotic Capsules have the right mix of clinically-proven nutrients for healthy hair, skin and nails. Not to mention vitamins for higher energy, a better metabolism and a healthy nervous system.
4. Chill Out
Ok, easier said than done. We know! But a few moments of calm, quiet and peace can reset your mood, your mind and your mental state. Even taking a few deep breaths, a few minutes of stretching or a walk around the block can clear your head and allow you to feel like yourself, and not just Mom. If you can steal more than a few minutes, try a guided meditation or go for a run, or do another workout you love. You could also pick up a good book (even if you need to read it in the car, hidden away from the family!). And, if you really need to find that Inner Balance, our capsules contain Organic Ashwagandha and other herbs to help alleviate stress and tension, achieving a calmer mental state.
5. Get Your ZZZZZ's
When it comes to having energy to spare, sleep is one of the few things that trumps exercise. We acknowledge that mothers have a lack of sleep superpower when it comes to pushing through, but you’re not invincible (and why should Dad get all the sleep?). With all that’s going on, it can be a challenge to turn off your brain and get a good night’s sleep. But good sleep can make all the difference in how you feel and function. Our organic, herbal sleep aid, Terra Origin Healthy Sleep, contains a blend of evidence-backed and natural ingredients for a healthy-sleep wake cycle, promoting relaxation and calmness before bed with melatonin, GABA, and L-Tryptophan. Doesn’t that sound dreamy?
We know you can do it all, but in order to do it healthily, you need to take care of yourself. And treat yourself! Happy Mother’s Day, to all the amazing Moms out there. Now go get some rest!
